Mrs. Jessie "Jake Baby" Moates

Ms. Jessie May" Jake Baby" Burton Moates, 77, of 114 Mill Rd N. widow Franklin Moates departed this life on January 29, 2021 at Self Regional Medical Center. She was born in Greenwood, SC December 30, 1943, a daughter of the late Willie Martin Burton and Margurite Frazier Burton. She was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Jean Burton McGrier and two brothers William Rufus Burton and Richard Burton. Jessie attended public school in Greenwood County. Jessie She was employed as a Bus Driver at the Y.M.C.A. She was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church where she served on the Hospitality and Kitchen Committee and Pastor's Aid Ministry. Her passion was her family and friends, serving others, and assisting in the church.

Surviving are three daughters, Deloris Williams of Greenwood SC, Nira Moates ( Bobby Dendy), and Vicky (Micheal) Robinson of Greenville, SC; five sons, Franklin Moates, Micheal Moates, Marion Moates, Robert Moates all of Greenwood, SC, and Corey Moates of Laurens, SC; 21 grandchildren, 3 reared in the home, Yolanda Moates, Dejuan Moates, and Corey Moates Jr; 29 great grandchildren, two sisters Willie Doris Burton of Abbeville, SC., Mary Jane Burton Deal of Greenville, SC; one brother, James Albert Burton; two sister in laws, Olivia Burton of Bronx, NY and Dayna Burton of Greenwood, SC; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at John's Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. J. Allen Aiken officiating. Public Viewing will be Wednesday from Noon until 5 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
