The celebration of life for Ms. Lucille " C I " Tompkins a loving mother and grandmother gained her wings on February 22, 2020 at her home 514 Marion Street in Greenwood SC.
Lucille was born March 27, 1919 to the late John Mitchell and Katie Gary Mitchell. She later married
Theodore Roosevelt " TR" Tompkins . To that union two children were born Leroy Tompkins who preceded her in death and one daughter Annette Susewell of the home.
She was the last survivor of her siblings.
she was reared in Greenwood SC where she joined Macedonia Baptist Church. She late joined United House of Prayer where she was a Missionary and Secretary. She rejoined Macedonia Baptist Church and later joined New Faith Tabernacle where she was named Mother of the church.
She was survived by a daughter, Annette Susewell; ten grandchildren, Michael Tompkins, Anthony Susewell, Reginald Susewell, Rayford Susewell, Jr., Katrina Susewell, Demario Susewell, Lavern Tompkins, Leroy Tompkins, Jr. and Jamel Tompkins; a host of other grands, 15 great grands, 46 great great grands, and 9 great great great grands; two god daughters, Mary Sayles and Evelyn Rice; two children that she raised, Marie and Van Barnette; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. This is not goodbye, but we will see you after while!
Homegoing services will be held1 Pm Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Bernard Morman officiating assisted by Rev. Dr. Ankoma Anderson, Elder Stanley Dye and Rev. Bennie Crawford. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends of the family
Flower bearers will be granddaughters and friends of the family.
Mrs. " C I " will be placed in the church at Noon.
