Mrs. Nancy Nicholson Walker 96, of 437 East Cambridge Avenue formerly of 7 W Byrd Street entered peacefully into eternal sleep on Thursday, October 30, 2019 at NHC of Greenwood.

She was born in Greenwood County February 20, 1923 a son of the late Eunice Nicholson and Terry Baylor.

Nancy was an active member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir and also was involved in several ministries within the church until her health failed. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.

She was an avid gardener and loved growing beautiful flowers and plants. Over the years, she worked with numerous charities and organizations to include being a lifetime member of the NAACP in which she took great pride.

She worked in the Blue Bird Beauty Salon for many years. The close proximity of the Salon and Funeral Home forged a lifelong bond that would last long after retiring from the beauty salon. She worked with many years with the funeral home where she shared a special bond and shared her wisdom. She did not leave until SHE WAS satisfied with the loved ones she served through her gift of cosmetology and would walk back down the hill to her house. She sometimes would beat us to the office standing on the porch and looking like what took you so long!!

We will forever be grateful for the love she had for our family and Percival Tompkins Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Hollie Walker, Jr

Nancy leaves to cherish her wonderful memories one son, Joseph " Tony" Walker of Augusta, GA; daughter in law, Joyce Gray Walker of Clarksville TN, three grandchildren, Orlando (Tiffany) Walker, Memphis TN, Kimberly Walker-English, Chattanooga, TN and Sandra M.
