Mary Alice Kinard
Mary Alice Boozer Kinard, 86 of 108 North Bethune Street, wife of the late Calvin Kinard, Jr. entered into eternal rest March 23, 2018 at her home. Born in Greenwood , South Carolina on May 22, 1931 the daughter of the late Ephraim and Florence Ward.
She was a faithful member of Mt Tabor Baptist Church where she served as President of the Senior Choir, Deaconess, Missionary, Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher and Junior Choir Leader
She was a former Girl Scout Leader, member of the MLK Choir, East End Heights Community Organization, Gardenia Garden Club, Stellar Chapter #337 OES, Women's Home Aid Society #69, the Congress Choir and the Greenwood Beautification Commission.
She was formerly employed by the Nantex and GLEAMNS Human Resources. She was a graduate of Brewer High School, Piedmont Technical College and Lander University.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Ward and Earnest Ward; two sisters, Jessie Lee Boozer and Barbara Edwards.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Linda Lean Kinard of the home and Deborah K Holmes of Bradley, SC; one son in law, Alpha Omega Holmes of Cokesbury; three sisters, Jannie W. Hill and Ruby W. Barnes of Greenwood and Louise (John) Self of Mitchellville, Maryland; four grandchildren, Alpha Omega Holmes II of the home, Calvin Elliott Holmes of Cokesbury, Courtney (Jerunaca) Turner of Bradley, and Crystal M Kinard of the home; three great-grandchildren Janajhia' Turner and Ashanti Turner of Bradley and Kimare Starks of the home; brother- in- laws, John Self, Carl Crawford, Rev. Clyde Cannon, Heyward Higgins, Oscar Fisher; sister- in- laws, Alice Turner, Lillie Fisher, Helen Higgins, Iola Crawford, Viola Cannon, Voneva Kinard, Juanita Kinard and Latisha Ward; three god- children, Naaman Lukie, Gaalon Lukie, and Azavian Parks; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Services will be held Noon Monday, March 26, 2018 at Mt Tabor Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Rivers, officiating and Rev. Jerry Brown Presiding.
Mrs. Kinard will be placed in the church at 11:00am
Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery
Pallbearers will be nieces. Flower bearers will be nephews.
