Willie "Bill" Freeman, Sr


Mr. Willie (Bill) George Freeman, Sr. of 236 Wheatfield Drive, died June 16, 2017 at Self Regional Hospital. Born in McCormick County May 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Frank and Annie Morgan Freeman.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Freeman served on the choir at Antioch Baptist Church. He previously song with singing groups, The Might Unknowns, Gospel Imperials and The Flying Clouds. Mr. Freeman was self employed many years in carpentry.

Mr. Freeman was predeceased by several sisters and brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Joann Freeman of Greenwood, SC; four sons, Glen (Michelle) Payne of Greenwood, SC, Willie (Paulette) George Freeman, Jr. of Greer, SC, Tony (Shannon) Freeman of Greenwood, SC and Lamon Gaston of Louisville, KY; a daughter, Sharon Freeman of Greenwood, SC; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Payne of Greenwood, SC; a grandchild reared in the home, Christopher Freeman; four brothers, Frank Freeman, Jr. of Greenwood, SC, James (Vernestine) Freeman of Greenwood, SC, Paul (Jamie) Freeman of Greenwood, SC and Robert Freeman of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Minister Marilyn (Alonzo) Chinn of Edgefield, SC and Linda (Willie) Talbert of Greenwood, SC; 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Springs Baptist Church with Reverend R. C. Oglesby officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12 Noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The pallbearers and flower bearers will be the nieces and nephews.

The family is at the home.
