Master Sergeant Ronetta Martin

Master Sergeant Ronetta Marie Martin, 54, of 152 Shady Grove Lane, Savannah, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on January 12, 2017 at Hospice House of Greenwood.

Born May 2, 1962, in McCormick, SC, a daughter of Charlie F. Martin and Bettie Jean Middleton Martin. She was a member of Holy Springs Baptist Church in McCormick, SC and a graduate of McCormick High School Class of 1980.

Ms. Martin received an Associate’s degree in Computer Science from North Greenville College, a BA degree in Business Administration from Lander University, and did further studies receiving a Masters degree in Management from Webster University, 2002 and a second Masters in from DESG, 2004.

Continuing her education during military service included: Warrior Leader, 1995; Advanced Leader 1996; Radiological Safety, 1998; Combat Life Savers CRS, 2000; Basic Instructor Training, 2000; Equal Opp Management, 2001; BN Intel/OPS SGT, 2002; SR Leader CRS, 2003.

Master Sergeant Martin was highly decorated receiving the Meritous Service Medal 3 times, Army Commendation Medal 4 times, Army Achievement Medal 3 times, and the Army Conduct Medal 4 times. She served during conflicts with one tour in Afghanistan and tours of duty in Iran and Korea.

Her stationed assignments included: Ft. Stewart (1994-1995, 2005-2008)

Korea (1996-1997, 122nd SIG BN 2004-2005, 2014-2015)

Iraq (2006-2009)

Afghanistan (2001-2002)

Fort Hood (2008-2012) and

Fort Jackson (2012-2014)

She was preceded in death by siblings Sandra Griffin, Bobby Martin, and Tommy Wayne Martin.

Surviving are a son Tyranna Martin of Greenwood; three brothers, David (Mable) Middleton of Greenwood, Charlie Martin of Greenwood and Stephen (Tracy) Martin of Johnston, SC; three sisters, Teresa Martin of McCormick, SC, Virginia (James) Moore, Karen (Randolph) Duncan of Greenwood; one grandson Tyranna Martin, Jr; a God Mother, Catherine Wilkerson of McCormick, SC; one aunt, Mildred Fambrough of McCormick, SC, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services followed by Military Honors will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Holy Springs Baptist Church in McCormick, SC with Pastor Linda Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at her home in Greenwood, 310 Ashcroft Drive, and at the home of her sister, Teresa Martin, 813 Dorns Road, McCormick, SC.
