Mrs Ebell Blocker Martin

Mrs. Ebell Blocker Martin, 98, of 113 S. Ames Street, widow of Timothy Martin, passed away January 4, 2017 at her home.  She was born to the late Deacon Ed and Eliza Skykett  Blocker  on May 9, 1918 in Greenwood County, South Carolina.

She was educated in the Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church School and was a lifelong member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Epworth, SC.  She was a retiree of Southside Elementary School, Greenwood District 50.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Martin Duncan.  

Survivors left to cherish her memories, a son, Deacon C. T. Martin (Modjeska) and a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Martin (Floyd) of Greenwood, SC; five grandchildren, Brandy Duncan and Basil Leo Duncan both of Charlotte, NC, Goins Duncan, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Jermaine Duncan and Richard Martin both of Greenwood, SC; three great grandchildren, Jermiyah, Aaliyah and Quinton Payne all of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Georgianna Blocker Fortune and  Elizelle

 

 Blocker both of Greenwood, SC and host of other relatives.  

Services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 12 Noon at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Epworth, SC with the pastor, Reverend Dr. Danny R. Webb officiating.  Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends and flower bearers will be the Old Mt. Zion Usher Ministry.

Mrs. Martin’s body will be placed in the church at 11:00 a.m.
