Mrs. Hester Mae Foggie Williams, age 81, was born in Waterloo, South Carolina on March 31, 1934, to Evangelist Ruth Foggie and the late Deacon Charlie Foggie. She was the eldest of 4 siblings. She departed this life on March 3, 2016 after a long illness at Bay Park Nursing Home Bronx, New York.
Hester received her early education in the Greenwood Public school system. She graduated from Brewer High School.
At an early age, she joined Laurel Hill Baptist Church and after moving to New York she became a member of Gethsamine Baptist Church , Bronx, New York, where she sang in the choir every Sunday and dedicated herself to helping families in need by spending much of her time working in the church and community.
Hester was retired from Citibank, after 30 years as bank administrator and a valued employee. After retirement she spent much of her time dedicated to family and enjoyed spending time with loved ones.
Hester loved the Lord and was kind, loving and generous. Her compassionate and loving manner, her ever present smile attracted people to her and her committed service won many hearts. Because of her loving heart, her dedication to her family and service to mankind, Hester leaves us with many wonderful memories.
She does not leave to mourn but to rejoice from pain and suffering her mother, Evangelist Ruth Dendy Foggie; one son, Larry Williams of Tamarac Florida; a daughter, Gwendolyn ( Williams) Hanley of Bronx, New York; one sister, Bettye Jean Foggie of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers Stanley Bobbie Foggie ( Martha Ann) and Charles D. Foggie of Greenwood. Also two granddaughters: Tasha L. Hanley and Kendra M. Hanley, two grandsons; Larry Williams Jr. and Myles Williams, and three great grandsons, Terrence R. Burke, Tyreek L. Williams and Bryce D. Colclough. Rev. George Dendy, uncle, Brooklyn, New York and Queen Esther Dendy Cunningham, aunt of Waterloo, South Carolina and a host of beloved relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be held 1pm Friday, March 11, 2016 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Herbert E. Glenn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs Williams will be placed in the church at noon. Pallbearers will be nephews. Flower bearers will be nieces.
