Mrs. Iola Robinson Gill

 Mrs. Iola R. Gill, 90, wife of Mr. James H. Gill, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at her home. Born in Greenwood County, She was the daughter of the late Robert Robinson and Queen Easter Dean Robinson. 

 

 

She was a graduate of Brewer High School and South Carolina State University formally SC State College. She was a member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Epworth Community) and served on the deaconess ministry.  She retired from GLEAMNS Head Start.                  

 

She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Charlie, Henry Wise, Ivery, and Gaines Robinson, sisters, Isabell Robinson,  Ellen Lynch, Lillie Mae Glenn, Annie Mae Booker, sisters-in-law, Minnie Robinson, Mamie Lee Robinson, and Gertrude Robinson and brother-in-law, Thomas J. Lynch, Sam Booker, and Cleveland Abney. 

 

She is survived by one son, James H. (Carol ) Gill, Jr. of Topeka, KS, and a daughter, Sharron Gill-Rucker of Greenwood, SC, ( 6 ) grandchildren, Teleathia (Cornelius) Brown, James H. Gill III, Gregory Gill, Michael Gill, Dominique Rucker, and J’Shawn Gill ( 3 ) great-grandchildren, Raja Logan, Tiana Strong, and Nevaeh Wideman.; a sister, Maggie R. Abney of Greenwood, SC, and a nephew Earl (Frances) McBride of Silver Spring, MD (1) sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.  

 

The Service will be Monday, July 6, 2015 at 3pm, at Old Mt. Zion Baptist (Epworth Community) with Rev. Dr. Robert M. Scotland officiating. Mrs. Gill will be placed in the church at 2PM  

Pallbearers are Old Mount Zion Baptist Church Deacons 

 

Flower bearers are Old Mount Zion Baptist Church Deaconess Honorary Escorts are Progressive Lodge #403, PHA and former Rochelle Chapter OES #298 

 

Burial will follow at the Evening Star. 

 

The family will receive friends at the home, 1122 E. Cambridge Avenue. Percival Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gill Familys
