Mrs. Clara E. Wideman 84, was born Clara Estella Douglas on August 2, 1930 in Greenwood, S.C. the only child of the late James Douglas and Mary Johnson. and passed May 5, 2015 in Spartanburg, SC

She received her early education in Greenwood. Her early spiritual education was received at Morris Chapel Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age. Clara attended Brewer High School in Greenwood, S.C. and Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. where she received her degree in Elementary Education. Clara maintained a career as a dedicated and loving teacher for thirty four years. In 1953 she married Sammie Wideman and had one son Samuel D. Wideman

Clara served for many years on the Martin Luther King Mass Choir and the Senior Choir of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. She also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, Epsilon Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and the Charmelette Club.

Clara was very proud of her educational accomplishments and encouraged others to further their education.

Clara will be missed by her loving family and friends. She leaves behind her loving son and daughter –in-law Samuel And Stacie Wideman of Spartanburg, six grandchildren, Brandon Wideman and Jaleesa of Greenwood, Vincent Wideman and Kesia Mims of Spartanburg, Carissa Wideman (Burton) and Christopher Wideman of Spartanburg; one sister-in--law Margaret Smith of Greenwood. Her beloved dogs Buttons and Daisy and many devoted relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 2pm at Morris Chapel Baptist Church with Bishop Oliver T. McCray, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Deacons and Trustees.

Flower bearers will be Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Mrs. Wideman will be placed in the church at 1pm
