Mrs. Beatrice Booker " Mrs. Bea" Mitchell 92, of 406 Ron McNair Street widow of Charles G. Mitchell passed from labor to reward on November 16, 2014 at her home. She was born in Callison, South Carolina October 30, 1922 a daughter of the late Hayes Booker and Oleana Kemp Booker.
She was a lifelong servant of the Lord in various capacities which became her life’s work.
She was a lifelong member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served in many capacities to include: the Missionary Society, the Usher Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Shape Note Choir, the Gospel Choir and Culinary Ministry. She was a member of the Building Committee for the New Sanctuary.
She was a member of the Women’s Aid Lodge #69 and the Promised Land Women’s Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Mitchell, a daughter, Patricia Goodman, two brothers, Hayes Booker, Jr and Moltry Booker and son in law, Charles Allen.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children; Mrs. Sandra M Allen of Greenwood, Mrs. Brenda M Norman (Larry) of Alexandria, VA. , Mr. Charles W. Mitchell (Carnella) of Antioch, TN and Mrs. Beatrice Elaine Harrison (Brian) of Greenwood; a son lin law, Theodore Goodwin of Greenwood, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 at 1pm at Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John R. Brightharp officiating assisted by Rev. Michael Butler and Rev. Ronnie Williiams.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Deacons.
Flower bearers will be Missionaries and Ushers of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Honorary escort will be Women’s Aid Lodge #69 and Promised Land Women’s Auxiliary.
Mrs. Mitchell will be placed in the church at Noon.
Public viewing will begin at 1pm on Thursday.
