Elizabeth( Lizzy) Moore-Hackett 92, entered into etnernal peace on Tuesday August 26, at The Rose Manor Rehab Center in Durham, NC after a long illness.
Elizabeth was born on June 2, 1922 a daughter of the Calvin and Laura Moore of Greenwood, S.C. She attended school up to the sixth grade. She became a homemaker at an early age to help the family. She met and married Early Hackett Sr. in 1939, from this union was born five children. she relocated to New York in 1957 where she worked as a seamstress in the garment district for over 30 years. she moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1961, there she worked and provided for her children and granchildren for many years. She attended the Hudson Temple Church in Brooklyn for many years and served as a member of the choir and usher board. She was so full of life, love and worshipped God with her whole heart and soul. She was a Prayer warrior, Loving, Giving, God-Fearing and Humble. She taught her children to be spiritually aware and to Love God always, yourself, and others.
She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years Early Hackett Sr. (1976), her devoted son, Rufus Hackett(2006), her daughters, Christine Hackett-Williams (2012), Wihelmina Hackett-Winston (1969), her siblings, Ruth Moore-Boyd (1987), Willie Lee Faust (2009) Jimmy (brother) Faust Jr. (2004).
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son Earl Hackett Jr. of Durham NC; her daughter, Betty Jean Hackett of Raleigh NC; her aunt, Marion Moore of Greenwood SC, two sister-n-laws; Eleanore Prunty and Helen Mathis of Greenwood, SC, 14 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 31 great great grandchildren and 3 great great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She will truly be missed. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3pm at Percival Tompkins Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Flower bearers will be granddaughters. Percival Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hackett family.
