George Rufus " Ruby" McBride 67, of 4022 McCormick Hwy entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2017 at Hospice Care of The Piedmont. He was born in Greenwood County a son of the late Ruthhart and Lottie McBride. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jo McBride and Debra Faye Pickett. He was a faithful member of Mt Zion AME Church and the Promise land Community, where he served on the culinary committee and was a groundskeeper. WILLIE (BILL) GEORGE FREEMAN, SR. Mr. Willie (Bill) George Freeman, Sr. of 236 Wheatfield Drive, died June 16, 2017 at Self Regional Hospital. Born in McCormick County May 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Frank and Annie Morgan Freeman. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Freeman served on the choir at Antioch Baptist Church. He previously song with singing groups, The Might Unknowns, Gospel Imperials and The Flying Clouds. Mr. Freeman was self employed many years in carpentry. Mr. Willie S. Spearman 75, of 428 Wade Avenue , Greenwood, SC departed this life June 11, 2017 at his home. Born in Abbeville November 6,1941 he was the son on the late Charlie Washington Spearman and Mary Boozer Spearman. HODGES - Mrs. Lillie E. Sweat, 89, formerly of 2922 Ridge Road, Hodges, SC, wife of the late Mr. Joseph H. Sweat, departed this life Monday, June 5, 2017 at National Healthcare of Greenwood. She was born in Cokesbury, SC on September 5, 1927 to the late George L. Evans and Inells Jackson Evans. Lillie graduated from Brewer High School in 1947. She retired from Self Memorial Hospital having worked in various departments after 30 years of service. Lillie joined Cokesbury Baptist Church at an early age, serving as secretary for the church as well as for the Missionary Society for 60 plus years.
